WarningIf you come to NJFM the week after Christmas and it’s not here, it’s not because I took NJFM down. Well, I probably inadvertently took it down.

Solostream updated the theme I’m using and I intend to install the new and improved version. The upgrade should happen without a hitch, but I’ve learned from experience that whenever I get under the hood of a blog unexpected things happen.

So, if you see a blank page or something really weird, don’t worry. NJFM will be back once I figure out how to undo what I shouldn’t have done. 🙂

Thanks for letting us know, Felicia. And good luck! I’ve never updated my WP theme because I’m sure I wouldn’t know how to undo what I shouldn’t have done. And it still works so I just leave it alone. I’m sure that strategy will bite me big time at some point but so far so good (knocking frantically on wood).

LOL! This update is long overdue. They updated the theme before but I never made the changes. I think this time I have to make the upgrades.

I know the feeling Felicia. I recently upgraded my theme and upgraded to Wordpress 3.5 at the same time.

Oh boy. BLANK screen. I still have no idea what happened. I contacted ET (my theme provider) and got no response whatsoever and my hosting company was clueless. So, I was left to my own devices.

I ended up downloading my posts/pages/slides in xml, installing a brand new blank database, installing a brand new theme, configuring wp-config to match new database, and then re-uploading my posts and plugins.

It was a lot of work, but I got it finished in a night. I had tried just uploading a backup database but for some reason that still had glitches, so I just had to start over from scratch. Thank goodness I had my posts in xml.

I did have to upload a few pics that somehow didn’t remain attached.

Hopefully, you’ll have better luck. Maybe I should try Solostream instead of ET. I was offended that they didn’t respond to my queries.

Oh boy, been there done that! It’s amazing how much you learn about the underside of a blog when you inadvertently cause a blank screen. 🙂

Sorry to hear your theme folks didn’t get back to you. Solostream is pretty responsive. They have a forum where I usually find answers to my questions. If I don’t find it there, they’re good and responding individually.
