It’s All About Passion!

This is a quick post, but I wanted to give a shout out to Will Leon.Tennessee Titans Football

Will is a passionate Tennessee Titans fan. Quite a while ago Will created a blog with googobs of great information on the Titans and its players but he let it go dormant for a while. Will recently revived his Titans Tracker blog (which includes Huston Oiler info too).

Why Did Will Stop Blogging?

Only Will can tell you the real reasons, but from what we’ve discussed, he fell into a trap that many bloggers fall into.

Reason #1: No one was commenting on my blog (which translates to nobody was coming by).

That may or may not be the case. Comments don’t equal visitors and visitors don’t equal comments. Some folks are lurker and others are commenters. I’d bet my last dollar that there are more lurkers than commenters.

Reason # 2: It became too stressful to come up with frequent posts.

Boy oh boy, I used to fall for that one when I first started blogging until one day I thought, “Whose blog is it?” Ask yourself that question. If it’s your blog and you don’t feel like blogging…don’t! If you blog when you feel like blogging, the blog posts will be packed with information and passion.

Blogging to fit a schedule can lead to blog drivel. We get plenty of drivel every day on TV, radio, internet, newspapers and so on. Don’t let your blog fall into the drivel category.Titans Tracker

New and Improved Titans Blog

Will changed his blogging platform, the theme and, as he said, “pimped it out.” I love the new look and although I’m not a Titans fan, when I run into one, I can tell him/her where to go (I mean that in the nicest way possible).

Shout Out and Congrats!

Way to go Will! I wish you and the Titans the best (don’t let my hubby know I sent good wishes to a team other than the NY Giants).

It is so true about not sticking to a schedule if it isn’t working for you! When I try to stick to a schedule my quality sometimes tends to go down but if I write when the urge hits, I can tell that my posts flow much easier!

Thanks again for sharing your wisdom, Felicia. Your second point really hit home with me and I feel a weight lifting off my shoulders as I type!

I fell for the frequent blogging thing at the start too – several dead blogs later I decided to just keep one personal blog – still have it and the secret is quite simple – once you have established the site and are getting consistent search traffic taking a month or 6 weeks between posts won’t make that much difference to you traffic

You have a point, Lis. I think the steady blogging schedule applies more for someone with a brand new blog looking to develop traffic.

I follow your blog on a regular basis and I find your advice very useful. I work 2 part-time jobs and it sometimes gets hard to find an hour to write. I also find that my writing suffers when I’m too tired. So for my personal blog I now write once or twice a week but the quality is better. I finally took your advice from a previous post and I’ve actually written my first article. I signed up with HubPages and published it today. Because of time restrictions I will try to write one new article per week. Thank you Felicia for your words of wisdom and your encouragement.

I find that forced writing is difficult, but when you’re in your flow, it’s a lot easier. Congrats on your first article. Way to go!
