If you are a freelance writer, an online entrepreneur, an affiliate marketer or anyone who makes money on the internet, the only way you won’t make money is if you quit.

Once you earn 1 cent on the internet, you know you have what it takes to earn $1. After you earn $1 you know you have what it takes to earn $10, $100, $1,000 and so on. The only thing that will stop you is if you quit.

I cannot tell you how quickly you’ll earn the next level of income. That has a lot to do with how quickly you learn the ropes, how much time and effort you put in and how quickly you learn to recognize which opportunities have money making potential and which are time wasters.

Earning Online Money Takes Common Sense and Tenacity

Today, on this first day of July, 2009, I look at my income tracking spreadsheet to see that in ½ of a year I have earned 101% of my last year’s residual income. Let me rephrase that. It took me ½ of a year to earn what it previously took me a whole year to earn. I’m on track to double my last year’s residual income.

Was it difficult to do? No, not really. It just took tenacity. Because I have a family I’m unable to sit at the computer and write untold numbers of articles a day. My current online writing goal is to place an average of two articles or blog posts on the internet each day. That means that at the end of any given month I should have 60 more pieces of work on the internet than I had the month before.

Reality Tends to Rewrite the Manual

Many times I fall short of that goal. The month of June was particularly brutal on my schedule. I only managed to place 28 new articles/posts (well below my usual). However, life happens and modifications must be made.

The one thing that is consistent is that I did manage to continue to place new content on the internet as life permitted. I kept moving in the right direction. I didn’t quit. If I had quit, then all I could do is sit around and complain. Complain about the economy, about the job market, the rising price of gas, food, child care, etc. Instead, I choose to keep moving in the right direction. Sometimes it’s an inch at a time and other time it’s by leaps and bounds. No matter what the increment…I vowed to continue to move forward.

Stick With It

There will be times when you check your stats and your page views and you will question whether or not the pages are stuck. You’ll think about the amount of time and effort and research you put into creating your online content only to see that no one is reading it.

Don’t give up. Believe me, there were many times when I looked at my stats and daily income and wondered why I even bothered. Then I remembered that I had earned my first, second and one hundredth dollar. The only way to keep making more was to stick with it and not give up. After all, the 9-5 job alternative didn’t give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. So…when the going gets tough, the tough move forward…

The best way to get rich quick earning money online is to take your time. There’s something to be said about patience and tenacity. Everyone wants substantial income overnight with little or no effort. As a result, the only ones getting rich are the ones who create the get rich quick scam programs.

Think about it. How many times have you heard about people winning millions of dollars in the lottery only to find that five years later they are right back where they started; broke and in debt. They got rich quick and then quickly lost their riches.

Develop the Success Mindset

There’s something to be said about making money the old fashioned way, one dollar at a time through hard work and tenacity. It seems that in the process of getting rich, you allow your mind to adjust to the new income level. You develop the success mindset. Some people call the mental adjustment the millionaire mindset. Whatever you call it, you must develop a different way of thinking when you start to earn substantial wealth.
[smartads]

Earning money online is no different. If you truly want to become successful in your money making venture on the internet, you’ve got to be willing to put in the work, remain focused and be patient. Anything worth having is worth working/waiting for.

Instant Gratification

Because the internet provides instant gratification, people believe that earning money online should follow suit. They look at it as a get rich quick playground. Let’s face it; if a web page takes too long to load, most people click away. If one site doesn’t have what you want the way you want it, you click to another site. It’s all done within seconds. Earning money though the net should be just as easy right? After all, it’s all about getting some traffic; a few clicks and the money will come rolling in, right? Well, no, not really.

The old business model of having a product or a service still holds true. In addition to a product or service, you’ve got to develop a level of trust with your customers. Trust is not usually developed within the one or two seconds it takes for your web page to load. It takes time and repeated exposure before folks feel comfortable enough to trust you (no matter how many flashing images you have on your site).

Slow and Steady Wins the Race

If you truly want to earn substantial money online, you’ve got to be patient, work hard and most of all do what you love to do. If you love what you’re doing, it won’t seem like work and you won’t mind putting in the time and effort that it takes to become successful.

I accidentally started earning money online with a couple of my hobbies. After I noticed the monthly increase in income, I started to take it seriously. Did it happen over night? No. Did I get rich quick? No. Do I see substantial earning potential? Yes.
As a result, I am willing to take the time to learn what needs to be done to become successful. It’s not tough to do; it just takes patience, diligence and focus.

Anything worth having is worth waiting for.
