I always knew the brain was very powerful, and last week I caught a glimpse of just how powerful my brain could be. It was wonderful…sort of.

I quickly learned that power is great, but unharnessed power can be dangerous. Without proper channeling and focus a runaway brain can be dangerous.

Here’s the Story

Last week I allowed my brain to run wild. I pulled out all the stops. There where no holds barred. I didn’t second guess myself; I didn’t compartmentalize my thoughts because of self limitations. It’s amazing the things you can come up with when you remove all of the barriers (well at least the barriers you’re aware of).

After letting my ideas flow, I got very excited at the possibilities. The ideas were coming fast and furious and the more ideas I came up with the more excited I got. It was a whirlwind of ideas and excitement.

The Down Side

The downside is that I spent so much time allowing my brain to run free that I got absolutely nothing concrete done. I was too excited and couldn’t figure out what to do first and what to do last. The result being that I only managed one post here at NJFM last week and by Saturday night I was scurrying to meet my weekly obligation with Suite 101. Everything else was put on the back burner.

Harnessing and Focusing the Energy

Now that I’ve had a wonderful mind run, it’s time to organize the wonderful thoughts, make some quantifiable and actionable steps and get things moving. As Alan Cohen would say, it’s time to bring the baby home.

One Thing I’ve Learned

Every once it a while it’s great to truly unleash your brain. Let it go for a full marathon run. You’ll be amazed at what you’ll come up with.
