In wandering around the internet, I came across Families.com, another paid blogging opportunity. Apparently Families.com has a network of over 30 family oriented blogs. Their blogging topics range from from marriage, to home & gardening to frugal frugal living and much more.

The Application Process

Families.com requests two sample pieces of at least 300 words each. The samples must be original and related to the topic for which the writer is applying. In addition to the samples, relevant links to the applicant’s work is encouraged.

Along with the samples (and links if you have them) Families.com wants a little information as to the applicant’s experience and expertise on the topic chosen along with a short bio (they don’t want a resume). Once compiled, email the information to them them at bloggers@families.com.

Families.com Payment Structure

Their current rate is $4 per blog entry. Newbies to the Families.com undergo a 90 day training period and are paid at a rate of $3 per post.

According to their website they give annual raises up to a maximum of $5.50 per blog entry and there are quarterly bonuses based on the blog’s performance.

International Opportunity?

While the website does not say that it will not accept international writers, it does say that because of their target audience, they are looking for writers who “have been raised and educated in the US (including military bases abroad), Canada Australia or UK.”

Currently Available Blogging Positions

Families.com may or may not have current openings. They seem to receive, review and accept applications often, but there are limited spots. When spots become available, they review the applications they have on file and contact the most qualified candidate. This is not the place to apply if you’re looking for an immediate blogging position.

While I have not applied to write for Families.com, it appears to be a nice opportunity for writers looking for a paid blogging gig.

If anyone has blogged for Families.com, please feel free to share your experiences with us.
