About

This is a brand new site (recently changed to blog format) and still in the in the development stages a blog about freelance writing earning money outside of the traditional 9-5 rat race.

No Job for MoOfficem is all about the journey of leaving the commute, the boss and the steady paycheck to be able to call the shots, earn residual (and not so residual) income while working from home. Bottom line, it’s about freedom! My goal is to share what I’ve learned along the way in order to help other parents (and non parents) free themselves from the rat race in order to have a more fulfilling life and be able to spend more quality time raising happy healthy kids.

Actually, the site should really be “No Traditional Job for Mom,” but the web address would be way too long. It takes just as much hard work to replace traditional income as it does to work at a traditional job. The beauty of working for yourself is that you are calling the shots and doing what you love to do. If you’re not doing what you love…don’t quit your day job. It will take passion, focus and tenacity to earn significant money. If you don’t have it in you, then you had better stop surfing the net and get back to your day job.

There are several ways parents (and non-parents) can earn significant money from the comfort of home. This site was originally dedicated to sharing my work from home experience as a freelance writer. Things have changed over the years. While I still earn money from my online writing, more and more of my income is coming from my off-line activities.

A little about me: I’ve been dabbling on the internet for a little over 10 years now. Nothing serious, just dabbling. A site here, a blog there, an article here a pay per click there.  A year ago Two and a half years Back in 2007 I got serious about this stuff. I was working at a job and realized that I could net more moneyThe Road to Self Employment from the internet than I was taking home from the job. Think about it, there’s the commute, the clothes, the lunches, the office social pool (in large offices there is an event a week at about $5 to $10 a pop), lunches, etc. I added it all up and subtracted it from my take-home pay and said, “Man, there’s got to be a better way.” To top it off, I didn’t enjoy the job.

My advancing years told me that if not now, when? So, I decided to get serious about this web stuff. I quit my job to work from home full-time.

I had a nice ride while it lasted but things changed.  The internet changed for freelance writers (in other words Google pulled the rug from under us) and I changed.  My income dropped precipitously and I found that I no longer wanted to spend my days connected to a computer for so many hours.  I took a break and spent quite a bit of time soul searching in order to find something I would enjoy and could earn a few dollars from.  I think I’ve found it.

Since the blog’s theme is still the same “No Job for Mom,” I decided to share the new chapter in my income earning adventure here.  My new venture has much less to do with writing and much more with earning money trying different venues.

All of the original NJFM posts remain under the “Writing Stuff” menu tab, but much of the information (aside from the motivational posts) are outdated.  Feel free to browse around and share information as you see fit.

Enjoy!
