Yesterday I noticed a significant increase in traffic after changing one of my blog’s theme to Thesis. This particular blog used to be one of my money making blogs, but after several Google algorithm changes my income was reduced to a trickle.
Sunday night I converted the blog to Thesis and on Monday my traffic picked up. Is it a coincidence? Who knows, all I know is one picture is worth a thousand words:
If one picture is 1,000 words, two pictures must be 2,000 words:
Those pictures display my Statcounter summary of visits over the past 30 days. You can see that yesterday’s visits and page views were the highest this site has seen in quite some time.
Additionally, yesterday’s income was twice what it usually averages. I’m keeping my fingers crossed hoping this is a trend and not a fluke. Considering that I’ve only written 3 posts for the blog this year, I’m pleased with the results. Who knows, if I start adding regular content, there might be hope for this blog.
By the way, the jump in traffic had nothing to do with Google. As you can see from the image below, Google doesn’t like the blog:
Google stopped liking my blogs 2 or 3 algorithm changes ago.
Going forward, I’ll continue converting my blogs to Thesis and maybe, just maybe as the income starts to improve, I’ll be motivated to write more. Maybe making them more responsive is what I needed to breathe life into some of my old lifeless blogs.
