Thanks for this information. I finally got around to submitting a sitemap for each of my blogs and am really happy with the results. Two of my smaller blogs are actually getting more views now, so it may be from submitting the sitemaps. Even so, at least all of my articles are now indexed.

Up to now I haven’t used sitemaps but It will be my next project for this evening. That’s what I love about all of this, you learn on a continual basis. There is never a dull moment. You don’t have a chance to get bored before you have to move on to the next piece of technical wizardry.

Very, very useful info, Felicia. You seem to know more about technical and behind-the-scenes development stuff than the average blogger — certainly more than I know! Thanks for this.

I use the Google XML Sitemaps plugin (version 3.2.3) for WordPress and it basically does everything automatically. Good news for me, because otherwise I’d be clueless about this. As for the Google Webmaster Tools and site verification, your readers might find this Knol article helpful (I did):
