Felicia -- Yes! After working online for a few years, I started to realize that --while the freedom of being my own boss and working from home feels great-- *I* didn't feel so great. Forty is creeping up on my (I'll be 40 on November 20). There's absolutely no excuse for me to chain myself to my desk with no exercise. I'm my own boss, dangit! ;) So for the past month, as soon as I drop my kids off at school, I open my front door, grab one of my dogs, and take a walk for 45 minutes. Not only does it make me feel better physically, mentally, and spiritually, but the walk serves as my "morning meeting with myself." As I walk, ideas (for articles, posts, ebooks) just flow to me. It's like the Universe is thanking me for taking care of myself, and paying me with ideas. :)

Hey Felicia,

As a previous teacher, I can relate. Teaching can be exhausting and if you're not fit and in love with the act of teaching, you won't last long. I was a good teacher, but I could see myself quickly fading if I taught for much longer. For that matter, it's a good thing I got out when I did.

I would say there is also a reverse connection to your theory as well. When I was teaching, I wasn't really happy and I ended up gaining weight and feeling sluggish. I would get home, eat and pass out.

Now that I am pursuing something I love to do, I find that I can work for 12 hours a day and still want to wake up and work 12 more hours the next day. I also have noticed my hunger has dramatically decreased. I'm sure this is because I'm not fulfilling my emotional needs with food anymore.

I think that we have to nurture both our physical and emotional needs to find true balance. An emotionally stable person will be able to control their diet better and a physically healthy person will be able to focus their mental energy more effectively.

You are so right though. We must take care of our bodies so that they can take care of us. Thanks for the great insights and have a great weekend. . . hopefully with a few enjoyable walks outside:D.

Cheers,
Elizabeth
