WOOO HOOO Felicia! Thank you!!! I hope you don’t mind, but I am reiterating your advice to my Mom daily…I know you are spread rather thin right now, but you could have such a calling as a motivational speaker : )

I had a weekly column once, writing on the issues of the little village I lived in. My mom, when I got the column, just said: oh, honey that is so nice. Now just make sure not to write things that will upset people.
My editor would give me $10 for every angry letter to the editor…stirring things up does generate readers (as we know)

I think, though, that “kicking (the angry people) to the curb” “walking it off” and moving on is the best advice. Good job.

And I will turn off the comments thingy on my Suite101 articles : )

Alina, that’s one of the reasons why I never enabled comments on my Suite 101 articles.

Folks who are truly interested or have something meaningful to say about my Suite articles email me directly. If they are looking for more information or wish to (on occasion) thank me for the article, they do so privately.

The good thing about receiving the emails is that it’s food for additional articles. Or, if its a common question, I get to answer it publicly on the Suite blog (although I rarely post to the blog).

I get these types of comments on a regular basis on my Suite 101 articles stating that I am unqualified or something as simple as, “This ****ing article sucks!” I simply delete it and move on. No need to feed the trolls with arguments. Good for you!

Wow Freelance writing is controversial? It gets real old, real fast – some people just want to whinge about everything rather than take responsibility for their actions. I’ve deleted comments on my blog which must have taken 20 minutes to write, they could have done something useful it that time *shrug*. Please don’t delete me I have made a grammatical error in this comment

I say “Good for you!” For the life of me, I’ll never understand why people have to vent their anger all over the place. If they don’t like what you are saying, don’t read your blog. It is as easy as that. People can give opinions without being combative. I guess some people have nothing better to do than start trouble. Again, good for you for deleting the comments and moving forward.
