The Suite Smell of Success

I’ve been writing for Suite 101 since April of 2007. I’ve added new articles on a very slow and sometimes steady pace. I barely go above the minimum requirement of 10 articles every three months (14 articles now that I’m a Feature Writer). I added 5 new articles in January, 5 in December and 6 in November.

On one rare occasion I added 24 articles in a three-month period of time. So you can see that I’m not writing for them at a break-neck speed. Imagine my surprise when I found that my January earnings exceeded my December earnings by approximately $100. Not enough for my husband to quit his job, but a step in the right direction.

The Reason for the Increase?

I could sit here and come up with all kinds of formulas as to why the earnings jumped, but it would be nothing but speculation. I’m not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. I’m going to take the money and run.

It’s amazing how an increase in earnings is motivation to write more. Who knows, I might actually post 17 new articles to my Suite 101 account in the next three-month period of time…or maybe not. Why fix what aint broken?

Inspiring! Thanks for sharing. I’ve got one article published with Suite101, so I definitely need to get cracking. Lots of ideas, though!

Congratulations on your success! Yes, a little monetary incentive is a great way to get motivated. Sometimes I’ll get a random affiliate sale from a site I haven’t worked on in a while, and suddenly I am writing 5 new blog posts for it, hah. ;)
