Make Money with Text Link Ads

Text Link AgsSome time ago I came across an ad site called Text Link Ads.com. Always looking for new ways to monetize my website or blog, I decided to check them out.

I signed up and submitted my websites and blogs for approval. The approval/rejection process is immediate. It seems that they accept sites with a Google page rank of at least a 3 or higher.

Upon approval, they generate code that must be placed on the website. You get to choose where and how many link ads you want displayed on your site. Once you install the code, Text Link Ads sends an e-mail congratulating you for successfully installing the code (sometimes you need that to make sure you did it correctly). That’s it. You’re done.Where is the Link?

They evaluate your site to see how much they believe a link ad on your site is worth. After they determine how much it’s worth, they go out and solicit advertisers. Periodically I get emails from them congratulating me because ad space was sold on my site or blog. It doesn’t get any easier than that.

Not limited to US sites only, they pay via PayPal once a month. They also pay by check (minimum payout of $25) and by pre paid MasterCard (minimum payout of $20).

What I like about Text Link Ads is once the ad is placed on your site, it remains until the advertiser cancels it. Therefore, if you sell let’s say $25 of ad space on your site the first month, each month the ad space is renewed until cancelled.

Not bad for a couple of minutes of work.

  1. More bloggers are moving way from old school sidebare and footer text ads to selling contextual links with http://www.linkxl.com The reason? Less risk - footer and side bar links are much easier to spot as paid while links in natural content are impossible to tell if they are paid or not.

LinkXL allows bloggers to sell a few links in their normal everyday posts, so the blogger can make money without with doing anything beyond the initial setup. LinkXL also works on non-blog websites.

You should take a look at LinkXL, I think you’ll like what you see.

  2. Thanks John,

    I’ll check it out.

  3. Hey Felicia,

I’ve been looking into these services for as long as I’m in blogging.. Although I was happy for the opportunity (could be an easy extra few bucks), the main thing that kept me from signing up was the fear of the Goggle Slap.. :)

So, for now I’m out. What do you think? I mean, for a site where pr influences its main income source, is it worthwhile to place that link with the risk of loosing that pr? And even if those are just rumors, I think it is enough to make me pass on that, and other such services..

    Cheers,
    Alex

    p.s.
I just came by your blog through Google :)
Keep it in your “friends” list

  4. Hey Alex,

Thanks for stopping by. As far as Text Link Ads and Google, there’s no problem. They’re totally different types of ads. Google is context sensitive and Text Link Ads is a non changing link to another site.

I’ve been using them for a few months and I’ve not found a difference with my Google income or ranking. Although I use Google AdSense, I’ve learned a long time ago to branch out to find other sources of income.

Google tends to give and then take away. While my other sources of income do not violate their TOS, I have to diversify my ad revenue streams. So far Text Link Ads is working pretty well.

Once an advertiser signs up for a link, they must provide 30 days notice to cancel the booking. I’ve grown accustomed to starting the month with solid guaranteed revenue each month. Google income is an added bonus.

I respect your caution, but you should look into it. It’s easy income.

  5. Hey!

Actually, what I meant was the Google slaps you with a pr of 0 (or much lower than your original pr), with no relation of AdSence..
It does this when it identifies reciprocal and/or paid links on your site.

Same thing, btw, with pay-per-post. Google looks for the “this is a paid review” or similar declarations and marks this page as paid, never to be shown on the ‘good’ spots in the results’ pages. That’s why I heard of bloggers who make this declaration into a picture, not readable by robots….

Nevertheless, you motivated me to investigate once again.. ahh, feeling nostalgic. Anyway, what do you think about tnx.net?

    Cheers,
    Alex

  6. I see what you mean. So far I haven’t noticed a difference.

As far as tnx.net, can’t say that I’ve ever heard of them, but I’ll check them out and let you know what I think.
