I can sympathise with Dee because I cannot seem to pass the test either and have failed three times so far. As a writer, who has had a book published, articles and a column in a newspaper, and been published by several magazines, as well as having a degree in Journalism, I have found this 'Readiness' test to be really discouraging and I am sure many people must fail it and leave the site. As a writer I fail to see why such a test is needed anyway. I am a writer and surely I should be judged on the quality of my written work not on a test like this? I passed a test on there on American English with flying colours and got 97% of it right but as for this 'Readiness' test so far I have been found to be not ready!

Keep more than one browser window open. This way you can take the test in one window and look up the answers in another. Another suggestion is to relax. When you get stressed, you make mistakes.

Take your time, look for the answers in the open browser window and relax.

Sorry I can't give you any quick tips, but I found the extra window and relaxing worked for me.

Well said! Indeed we've designed the oDesk Readiness Test as more of a tutorial for new providers so they can familiarize themselves with everything oDesk has to offer and hit the ground running once they start interacting with potential employers. It's open book (in fact use of reference materials during the test is highly encouraged), has a very generous time limit, and if you don't pass the first time, there is no waiting period to re-take.

Good luck and happy hunting!
