ChaCha Your Way to Additional Income

Nope, I’m not talking about the dance; I’m talking about ChaCha the information facilitator company. Here’s a brief overview of what they do (in my own words). ChaCha receives text messages from any SMS compliant cell phone. The ChaCha guides, reads the question, researches the information and then sends a text message back with the requested information in just minutes (or sometimes seconds). For a much better explanation of what they do, visit their site.

Become a ChaCha Guide

Somehow I received an invite to become a ChaCha guide so I decided to give it a go. I navigated to their website to sign up. However, I quickly found that before you can complete your registration, you have to take a 15 to 30 minute test. The test evaluates your knowledge of the Cha-Cha system, your typing speed/accuracy, and your ability to surf the Internet and find information. Once you successfully complete the test, you’re in.

You’re not allowed to be to work on the ” live system” and are considered a Guide in Training until after you’ve passed the 15 question Simulator Test. Upon passing the test you become a full-fledged ChaCha guide.

Earning Potential
ChaCha

As of this writing, the payment for doing this particular service is $.20 per text message or search. Although the rate seems pretty low, ChaCha guide’s text message response is limited to 160 characters, so we’re not talking about a lot of writing.

ChaCha guides can opt to be paid monthly once earnings reach in excess of $100 or you can choose the pay me now option. If you choose the pay me now option, you are issued a debit card and have instant access to your earnings.

I guess the earning potential depends on how quickly you receive, research and respond. Not having graduated to the active ChaCha guide status, I don’t have a feel for how long it takes to receive, research and respond. If you are a current ChaCha guide, please feel free to share your experience.

Flexibility

The great thing about ChaCha is that there are no set hours. If you wake up two o’clock in the morning and feel like doing a little ChaCha, then by all means you can sign on and ChaCha. ChaCha seems to accommodate everyone’s working hours. There are no minimum or maximum hours requirement.

The flexibility is great for at-home moms, college students or anyone legally authorized to work in the U.S., over 18 years of age with a little extra time, a computer and a broadband connection. The pay won’t make you rich but in this day and age every little bit helps.
