Putting My Money Where My Mouth Is

Ok, my prior post mentioned that I didn’t have time to earn money with Pay Per Post by blogging. I’m going to put my money where my mouth is. I just signed up for a free blog with blogger.com. The name of the blog is A Few Cool Products and Stuff.

I’m going to use that blog to write for Pay Per Post. So far, I haven’t submitted this blog to them for approval because I need to have at least 10 posts in a 30 day period of time. Since I just started the blog, I haven’t met their requirements as yet. Once I do, I’ll submit it.

I’ll let everyone know how it goes so that when I tell you that you can make money with Pay Per Post, I’ll be able to show you exactly how. In the meanwhile, why don’t you start your own blog? Why should I have all of the fun?

  1. Update:

I finally got around to submitting my blog to Pay Per Post yesterday (7/30/08). My blog, hosted on Blogger.com with a page rank of less than 0 (No Page Rank Information Available) was approved by Pay Per Post today.

    Now to start making money.

  2. How is this going for you?

  3. Hi Shan,

It’s going well. I tried looking for assignments with Pay Per Post and I just can’t seem to time it right and haven’t been able to select assignments.

However, I’ve been contacted several times by Pay Per Post direct and have written posts directly for advertisers. As a matter of fact, I received two more requests for posts.

I no longer sign into Pay Per Post unless I receive an e-mail from an advertiser asking me to write a post for their company. As a matter of fact, I prefer it that way. Let them come to me rather than me searching for them. It seems that over time, the advertisers start coming out of the woodwork.

So, to answer your question, I think it’s going pretty well.

  4. Felicia,

Thanks so much for sharing your journey here. It’s encouraging to see the play by play from someone who’s actively playing the blogging game. I’m brand new to all this, and am optimistic that I can achieve success in writing blogs for extra pay. It’s interesting to note that these advertisers are actually coming to you, but easy to see why. You write very well, and because you’re able to express yourself in a succinct yet approachable manner, you draw the work to you.

I’d like to hear your thoughts on the importance of that in terms of providing resources for folks that may not possess the gift more naturally. Also, what’s your personal opinion about controversial blogs. I tend to lean on pushing the envelope to the point where a slight wind could send it over the edge. Unfortunately, it’s the controversy that sparks the passion to write well, so to try to conform and write about subjects that don’t inspire me would be rather dull indeed. I’m hoping you can suggest some kind of middle ground to which, I’ll be able to draw a following and still remain marketable as a solid blogger.

Thanks and good luck on your course!

    Beth

  5. Hi Beth,

Thanks for stopping by, and I’m beginning to blush over the compliments here (it’s a shame that my family doesn’t read my blog).

The one thing I’ve discovered with blogging is that it should be an extension of you. If you like pushing the envelope right to the edge of the table, then go right ahead and do it. Writing about safe ‘politically correct’ subjects would bore you and your blog would soon become a chore.

The other thing you should consider is playing around with a couple of blogs. Think of the science experiments you used to do in school. Have one blog that is the safe, politically correct blog that you ‘think’ people want to read about and then have another one that is edgy, controversial and has everything you need to have your creative juices flowing. I could probably close my eyes and tell you which one you will stick with and which one would quickly grow dust and mold.

As far as earning money from my blog, honestly speaking, I earn more money from my other writing ventures than I do from my blog. I maintain the blog because I enjoy it and I like sharing what I’ve learned to help other folks to earn money online.

A million years ago when I had my first child I swore I was going to come up with something to help other mothers make money so they wouldn’t have to leave their kids. This is my small way of attempting to honor that vow.

Almost forgot to answer your question about writing ability. Honestly, I write like I speak. I don’t know if that’s the right answer, but I’ve had a very difficult time developing a ‘writing voice’ different from my every day voice so I stopped trying. I write in my everyday voice and I guess it works.

    Hope this helps.

  6. I started researching pay per post today because I have never before signed up for anything but today I received a request to write a paid review about someone’s website. They just told me that it had to be at least 300 words and have 3 links in it.

I could write positive or negative. I have never done anything like this before but for a few bucks writing 300 words is nothing.

It seems like there is quite the varying opinions on whether a person should participate in paid posts on their website.

I may give it a whirl and see what happens. Who can’t use a few extra bucks here and there.

  7. Totally going to start this and use your affiliate link!

  8. Hope it works out well for you, Katie.

  9. Just out of curiosity ( and before I attempt what you attempted), how has the “A Few Cool Products…” blog worked out for you? Was it good money doing all that stuff with Payperpost?

  10. A Few Cool Products worked out just fine. As you can see from my last entry, I haven’t done much work there lately.

I’ve been busy building my residual income and haven’t really spent any time with pay for posting opportunities.

It will work for you if you work it.
